What is X-CONTACT? The Mennekes contact sleeve explained
X-CONTACT is the Mennekes slotted contact sleeve. Its resilient material needs no extra spring, and the plug pin simply widens the sleeve, which Mennekes says cuts the force needed to connect and disconnect by up to 50 %. All PowerTOP Xtra plugs and connectors use it.
The four ideas behind it
- Innovative. A new manufacturing process gives the sleeve its spring properties from the material alone. The plug pin expands the slot in the sleeve, reducing the force needed to connect and disconnect by up to 50 %.
- Simple. According to the catalogue, one person can connect and disconnect even at 125 A, where conventional contact sleeves required two.
- Durable. The sleeve material is described as fatigue-proof, with no signs of wear even when the plug is connected and disconnected often; contamination and surface corrosion are removed automatically by the act of plugging.
